Welcome to the MSI SupportNET support conferences for Wildcat, Qmodem
and SLMR/OLX. These conferences are provided by Mustang Software, Inc.
for product support to BBS operators and their callers. MSI tech
personnel visit here on a daily basis in an effort to help answer
questions.
In order to continue providing support in these conferences, we need
everyone's co-operation in making all users aware of the following
guidelines:
Questions which deal with purely administrative matters -- for example
the status of an order, or a question of MSI company policy, cannot be
dealt with effectively in this echo. You are encouraged instead to call
the MSI office at 805-395-0223. The direct line for MSI technical
support is 805-334-2240, and is answered from 9 to 5 Pacific time,
Monday to Friday. Registered and non-registered users of MSI products
are welcome to use this service.
All discussions should be carried out in a friendly but business-like
fashion. No profanity, no vulgar, insulting or offensive language, or
attacks and disparagement of other products. This includes message
taglines as well as the body of the message.
''Flaming'' and personal attacks against other individuals in this
conference are not allowed. Lively discussion will not be limited, but
the network conference hosts draw the line at argumentative or insulting
behavior.
Out of consideration for the many sysops paying long distance charges to
bring these echo conferences to you, the use of ''carbon copy'' messages
is strongly discouraged. A public message addressed to ''ALL'' or to
''MSI SUPPORT'' will be sufficient for the right people to see and
respond to your message.
Each message in this conference should be focused primarily on the
conference topic. For that reason, the conference host may from time to
time request that a particular discussion which has strayed from the
conference topic be moved out of the support echo. Where possible,
callers will be directed to a more appropriate venue for the discussion,
and further posts on that topic will be discouraged.
It is courteous to quote a few lines of the previous message to maintain
the context of a discussion, but it is inappropriate to quote the entire
message in most instances. Excessive use of quoting utilities and fancy
signatures are discouraged, and will be subject to moderation. In
addition, ANSI art, ''big letters'' and pictures are also prohibited.
Program authors are encouraged to post information and product
announcements in these echos, so long as those announcements are brief
and to the point, they adhere to the other guidelines of this echo, and
are limited to products relevant to the topic. To be fair to everyone,
please limit these product announcements to no more than one per product
per month.
Moderation should be done only by representatives of MSI, and as far as
possible will be conducted by private messages. Callers wishing to point
out issues related to moderation or administrative issues should do so
by private message or voice call to their echo host only.
Users are encouraged to help other users by answering questions when
possible. The presence of MSI tech personnel in this conference is not
intended to limit this user participation, but rather to offer
clarification and additional support when needed. Questions can be
addressed simnply to MSI or MSI SUPPORT, and will be handled by MSI
staff and tech support personnel. MSI Policy questions will be addressed
by Rick Heming, VP Operations.
